Mobile apps are making it a lot easier to record your own podcast on the go! You don’t need to go out and buy thousands of dollars worth of gear to be able to record a good podcast. In this blog I will show you how you can start recording a great podcast today, for free, with these apps available on the Google Play Store, from just your Android!

1. Anchor

Anchor lets you record high quality podcasts, without needing to be a tech expert. It is a free, simple, and user-friendly app.

Also, recording a show remotely with participants from across the world is possible. By sending invite links, your listeners and friends have the chance to take part in the show. You can record up to 10 people at once.

Anchor also has analytic features that help to track the audience & monitors how many times each episode has been played / what parts have been liked the most.

2. Podbean

Podbean is considered one of the best apps to discover & play all types of podcasts. The app boosts the viewers listening experience by offering features like volume booster, speed and options to customize playlist.

You can easily record a podcast and mix the voice with background music. Once you are happy with your product, you are able to upload directly to Twitter & Facebook.

3. Speaker Studio

Spreaker Studio will allow you to record, broadcast, and convert your phone into a “radio station”, giving you all the essential equipment needed. When recording a podcast, you have the choice to broadcast it live, or have it pre-recorded / mixed. You can share the content over Facebook and Twitter, and when live, listeners can use a live chat box which lets you & them keep in touch in real time.

Once your podcast is recorded, you are able to upload it on their hosting service and set a title.

The one negative aspect to Speaker Studio is recording can only be done to up to fifteen minutes long. If you wanted to record a longer podcast you have to look for the other options offered in the app.

With tools that are this good, available to you right now for free, the only limit to your show is your creativity! Happy podcasting :)

How to Start a Podcast: A Complete Step-By-Step Guide

Podcasting is becoming a lot more popular because of the immense value it brings to both the creators and listeners. Podcasting enables you to share your message with your target market and positions you as an authority within your field. In turn, this will allow for more opportunities both in business and influence! It’s a win-win situation. All of the most successful entrepreneurs and celebrities are doing it, from Oprah to Gary Vaynerchuk and their results speak for themselves. Remember, content is king, and there is no better time to get started then NOW!

That sounds amazing, but how do I get started?!

I’m glad you asked. There are millions of articles online on how to start a podcast, but most of them are way too complex and cram in too much information that makes it seem overwhelming. In reality though, it can be simple. Let me show you how easy it can be in this JONY STUDIOS step by step guide.

Here are the 5 simple steps to starting your own podcast:

1) Choose a topic you’re passionate about

When it comes to podcasts, the listeners can quickly sense whether you actually care about what you’re talking about or not. If it isn’t authentic and true to who you are it won’t be successful and no one will listen. That’s why it is crucial to talk about what you’re passionate about. An easy way to figure this out is by analyzing what you talk about most to your family, friends and peers. Always remember the BPA rule for podcasting: Be real. Provide value. Acknowledge your audience.

2) Make an episode idea action plan

Most people plan so much that it gets in the way of them actually taking action. I don’t want that to be you! Don’t focus on the minor details of what you will say. Reading off of a script is not as authentic as speaking from your heart and soul. This can take some getting use to, so you better start practicing now. A good way to plan your podcast is to write a quick sentence or word on what the episode will be about, and any minor points you want to touch on. Use a notepad or your notes app on your phone, then get to it! This should just serve as a guide. Let your brain and creativity handle the rest. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE PERFECT, JUST REAL. People can’t connect to perfect because we are all human and mess up. If you create a quick idea action plan before every new episode then you will have enough momentum to keep the podcast going consistently.

3) Get the necessary recording equipment

In order to start a podcast you will need to record your voice (obviously haha). If you can’t afford any equipment or studio time use your phone’s audio recorder… yes, I did just say that. This means there is absolutely no excuses for you not to START. The content you create is the most important part. Ideally, sound quality does play a role and providing clear audio for your audience does make a difference, but again this is no excuse.

If you’re only recording yourself then I recommend a usb condenser mic. This is so that you won’t have to worry about getting an audio interface and all the cables related to it, saving you time and money. A great option is the Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Cardioid Condenser Microphone. It’s only about $200 CAD and will give you amazing sound quality! If you will be interviewing others, recording two or more people, then you will need an audio interface. I won’t be going into detail about every single piece of gear required, but I do recommend watching this video. It will explain everything about the podcasting equipment and software you’ll need to get started in a really easy way.

4) Make it sound amazing

You want to make sure your podcast is up to professional broadcast standards in terms of quality. This will set you apart and let your audience fully focus on your message. You can get your podcast recorded at your local recording studio and that’s great! However, if you want to get an amazing sound recording from the comfort of wherever you are, now it is easier than ever. At JONY STUDIOS we are audio experts and you can send us your podcast audio files in WAV format and we can use our advance mixing, mastering and audio editing to take your podcast to the next level!

Their features, user control, and low cost is what makes them so great. You can see every aspect of your streaming numbers with clear detail.
